Fashion Trends
While studying for a degree in Fashion Trends, students will gain knowledge in current clothing styles, plastic surgery, arts, and eating disorders. With media being very important, keeping up with fashion trends is vital. With this degree students will be able to work at fashionable stores including Wal-Mart and Target. There is also a focus on writing because previous graduates have received jobs writing about celebrities that have eating disorders and those that have paid for plastic surgery. And we all know that some have indeed paid dearly.
A gold standard in this field is Michael Jackson because he's gone through so many different looks and has spent lots of money on plastic surgery to make that possible.
The Evolution of Plastic Surgery
Explains the history and process along with positive and negative features of plastic surgery. This class also includes lengthy discussion time about popular figures in society that have completed the process, either successfully or unsuccessfully. The class also meets off campus at nearby eateries on a regular basis to discuss passersby and which procedures they should really consider having. This is approached through historical reference to the process and what can be done today and how quickly you can be out of the hospital afterward. Toward the end of each semester, the students new found skill sets are applied in the form of a free clinic which is held as a community outreach service. This clinic is very similar to the earlier outings except that once a consensus has been reached within the group as to which procedures the passerby should consider, the passerby is then informed of the decision. In this way the program also serves the general community at large, beyond the student population. Also the school gets on the news for this sometimes, the real news, on T.V.
Bulimia, Anorexia and You
Provides detailed information about these two eating disorders which are affecting millions of people. Along with factual information, this class talks about popular stars that have died because of these eating disorders and those who currently have them. Through written projects and class discussion, students are encouraged to form an opinion about whether the eating disorders are the outcome of fame and celebrity or if fame and celebrity are outcomes of the eating disorders. In other words – which came back up first, the deathly skinny chicken or the two dozen eggs? Being able to recognize which is cause and which is effect will better enable students to study a celebrity in crisis and determine whether they are on the way in or on the way out. It's crucial that the public knows.
