Department of Philosophy and Humanist Research

Major: Personal Awareness Studies – B.S.

This program prepares students to deal with the complexities of life and societal participation through better understanding of the self. Classwork includes both self discovery methodologies and comparative investigation of the range of possibilities of that awareness. Further required coursework explores how that self awareness might, will, or should impact the students societal and personal interactions. Upon completion of the program students should be fully aware of themselves in the world and how their presence impacts both themselves and those around them at distances near and far.

This self knowledge allows graduates of the program to flourish in any professional, interpersonal or intra personal context in which they might find themselves. It imbues the student with unshakable confidence and a belief not only in his or her unquestionable value to themselves; but, to others as well.

Course: Monotheistic Existential Humanism

Required Book: “You Don't Need to Know What or If You Are to Act Accordingly” ,5th edition – by Cosmo Frenning, PhD

This course explores existence in several contexts to provide a practical life approach. Chief among these is the existence of the self as the sole knowable entity within a monotheistic paradigm. This concept is then further explored by way of the nature of the practical implications of the self actually being god or man or both within this context. The course then goes on to explore existence of this self as a member of humanity and how that self might interact with members of that group. Cursorily, knowability of the actual existence of that group or of the self is explored. Further, the practical implications of both the existence or lack thereof of that larger group is investigated. Finally, the course explores the practical implications of the god-man self within the context of the possible existence of the alleged group. The sum of these contextual explorations should provide the student with a practical approach to living in uncertain times.

Course: Experiential Learning in Alternate Temporally Skewed Realities

Required Book: “Know the Impossible and Know it Right Now” ,final edition – by Cosmo Frenning with special notes by the color Chastity Blue

This important field of study may provide accelerated experiential learning opportunities through the interaction with activities or events which are either not knowable or non existent within our own agreed upon reality. This first course uses ongoing research as well as original class research to investigate the methods and merits of such modes of learning. Students work in group and individualized settings to investigate the possibility and provability of entering alternate realities. Once ensconced in these alleged realities, students attempt to participate in or view activities which lead to learning. The categorization and application of this learning is then attempted. Students are critiqued on their ability to solve preexisting problems within our agreed reality through the application of this new knowledge. This cutting edge science has the potential to greatly expand human knowledge through the use of alternate realities with differing temporal contexts than our own agreed upon reality.

Due to the nature of the course, no exact number of hours can be listed for completion. In the past some students have completed the course within a single two hour seminar period, while others have been enrolled in the course continually for several years.
