About the Department
The department has a long history of helping students and community residents realize the dream of travel. During the early years of the school, the department established thriving relationships with businesses which operated ocean going vessels and were in need of crews to man the boats. The department founders recognized in these circumstances that opportunities existed for all concerned.
The companies gained fresh employees, many of whom turned out to be eager to perform their duties.
The students and others found themselves, often overnight, on paths of adventure to new lands and horizons.
The department itself was even able to completely pay for its own first offices, as well as substantial residences for many of the department founders, from the small remunerations received by the department for helping to secure the companies such valuable employees. Today, the department continues this tradition of exercising a multitude of invisible hands to the benefit of all concerned with its dealings.
